Geothermal heat pump systems is fairly simple - all you need to know are a few basic concepts.

                                                                            Anatomy of a Heat Pump

Instead of just producing heated or cooled air, a geothermal system moves heat from one place to another.

                                                                            Open Loop Systems

An open loop system uses water direct from a surface or underground source - such as a pond, lake or well - instead of an antifreeze solution.

                                                                            Closed Loop Systems

In a closed-loop system, the heat exchanger is a continuous loop of piping that is buried underground.
